Oh, What a Night!

The champagne corks were popping on Friday 21st June as Wirral celebrated the return of its prestigious Business Awards. The glittering show was staged at New Brighton Floral Pavilion where over 400 leaders, innovators and rising stars from the region’s business community were lauded and applauded. We have been proudly working in partnership with Wirral Chamber of Commerce for many years now with our first Wirral Business Awards (WBA) show was way back in 2008.  However, this year was very special as we took on the tasks of both show production and full event management. The Mills Media Creative team commenced production last October and nine months of hard work finally came to fruition last Friday with a bigger, bolder and brighter show than ever before. Hosted by BBC Breakfast and Mt Kilimanjaro conqueror Dan Walker, the Wirral Business Awards recognise leading industry figures across a diversity of sectors. Thirteen awards were handed out on the night and some of the successful organisations to receive winning recognition included PharmaPac,…

We’re Top 50 Again!

The team at Mills Media Creative is once again very proud to make the annual ‘Televisual’ Top 50 corporate production companies list. The survey is based on company size, turnover, staff and peer reputation. Our diverse work over the past year has included medical films for Hitachi, the launch of Royal Research Ship Sir David Attenborough and the annual Wyevale Spring Show which took place at Telford International Centre. Over the past twelve months, our in-house production team has used its creative panache, unique experience, and willingness to take on a challenge…and applied these attributes to every new project.  We continued to deliver films and events with verve and clarity, and as always…with a winning smile! Without our amazing clients we are nothing – so a very big thanks to them all. And whilst we get the beers in to celebrate, here’s to another great year!…

We’re Back!

Firstly…please accept our apologies.  It’s been some time since we sent our last newsletter. The reason for our tardiness is quite simple – we’ve been too damn busy!  From big ships to statistics, liver surgery to coastal flights, our team has run the full gamut of creative marketing projects over the past few months. In the summer, our skills were once again called upon by Cammell Laird to present the hull launch of RRS Sir David Attenborough to the world. The polar research vessel slipped majestically in to the River Mersey and our production team live streamed the entire event from a multitude of camera views. We worked closely with British Antarctic Survey during the event and some 2,000 guests watched on big screens as Sir David and Professor Dame Jane Francis pushed the magic button. Click here to watch the launch. Live events and exhibitions have taken our team quite literally up hill and down dale. A third conference for the Archives and Records Association (ARA) was this year staged in Glasgow. Twelve staff were on-site for the three-day gathering which involved AV, film, stills and event management.  We journeyed…

The Big Launch of RRS Sir David Attenborough

Forget Trump, forget Wimbledon, forget the World Cup Final…the big event of mid-July was without doubt the celebratory launch of RRS Sir David Attenborough into the River Mersey. The new ship was commissioned by the National Environmental Research Council (NERC) and built by Cammell Laird Shiprepairers & Shipbuilders Ltd to a Rolls-Royce design. The RRS Sir David Attenborough will be operated by British Antarctic Survey (BAS) when the ship enters service in 2019. Once Sir David Attenborough and British Antarctic Survey Director Prof Dame Jane Francis pushed the launch button, the vessel’s splendid red hull glided sublimely down the Cammell Laird slipway and onto the high tide. At 12.25 pm on Saturday 14th July, our team of camera operators, sound technicians and vision mixers sent stunning live images to news channels and broadcasters across the world. We’ve been working with Cammell Laird for over 25 years, providing a wealth of creative services for a…

ARA – One for the Archives

The great city of Manchester played host to this year’s Archives and Records Association (ARA) annual conference, and the Mills Media Creative team was on hand to deliver the organisation’s best event yet! We provided technical and AV services at last year’s conference in London, but a successful pitch from our live events team saw us take over the complete event management reins for the 2017 conference. ARA’s annual event is the most significant gathering of information professionals in records management, archives and archive conservation from the UK & Ireland, as well as from around the world. This year’s theme was ‘Challenge the Past. Set the Agenda’, recognising that no profession can afford to sit still in times of huge, disruptive change. Our team has been planning the event for over fifteen months and worked in partnership with ARA’s in-house conference committee and management team. The conference programme offered practical insight into the latest industry standards, digital preservation, best practice and cross-cutting thinking on a range of challenging issues. Keynote speeches were delivered by Elizabeth Denham, UK Information Commissioner and Dr Alan Billings, Police and Crime Commissioner for South Yorkshire, and…

Mills Media Creative is proud to be working with Wirral Chamber of Commerce to produce the 2017 Wirral Business Awards. Once again, we have been selected as the Chamber’s preferred supplier and this will be our eleventh year providing all AV support, set design & construction, and live filming. We’ve seen the region’s Business Awards go from strength to strength and this year’s event will be the largest and best yet. Our Managing Director Andrew Mills said; “We enjoy working in partnership with the Chamber and this annual event is now recognised as one the north west’s premier awards. Over 500 people will attend and we are committed to producing a first class live event for the very best businesses across the Wirral.” Tickets for the show are now on sale and the Mills creative events team will be working extensively over the summer in preparation. Vote Mills Media Creative

With all campaigning and voting now finally over, here’s a quick catch-up of our own activities, direct from MMC’s (non-political) party HQ! The recent General Election meant a long day and night for our live events production team. On behalf of Wirral Council, our tech crew provided AV for all local declarations, big screens with TV election updates and direct sound feeds for national broadcasters BBC, ITV and SKY. Further winners were also championed at the Wirral Globe School Awards, which we produced for publishing giant Newsquest. This is a favourite event of ours as it celebrates the very best young talent from the region. Our MD, Andrew Mills, presented two trophies to worthy victors, and at the 2017 Wirral Tourism Awards where we also provided tech and AV assistance, he presented a fitting award to the triumphant team from Ness Botanic Gardens. However, if diversity gets your vote, then our film unit wins hands down.  They have just completed two new programmes for clients IMME and the University of Liverpool. The former was filmed extensively…

Busy, Busy, Busy

“The devil will find work for idle hands to do,” claimed Steven Patrick Morrissey… so it’s good news that our creative teams have been labouring long and hard over the past few weeks. We’ve been kept out of mischief by a wealth of different projects for both new and existing clients. Photographic Director Bob Baxter has been commissioned by national warehouse provider Tilstone to produce a series of new property images for their on-line portfolio. The project will once again take him around the UK shooting ground level views whilst our 10 metre telescopic remote control pole system is making light work of the requested high viewpoints. Bob has also been working for Park Group on a series of sparkling hamper shots for Christmas 2018! Meanwhile, our live events team staged the biennial Liverpool Law Society Legal Awards at the Rum Warehouse. This is our sixth awards show for the Society and it was certainly the best yet. Hosted by Radio Merseyside’s Roger Phillips and with entertainment provided by Britain’s Got Talent dance stars MD Productions, the show celebrated the very best in legal services across the region. Our…

We’re UK Top 50

Once again, we are celebrating our inclusion in Televisual’s Top 50 corporate producers list. The annual poll is based on company size, turnover, staff and peer reputation. It’s been a diverse twelve months for Mills Media Creative with new films produced for clients including Hitachi and Wyevale Garden Centres, and the staging of illustrious live events such as the keel laying ceremony for polar research vessel RRS Sir David Attenborough and British Cycling’s Gala Celebration. We’ve worked hard to continue our existing client relationships whilst welcoming many new ones into the fold.  But, as always, we continue to deliver our films and events with energy, clarity and hopefully a few laughs along the way!…

Liverpool Turns Green

Produced for agency Simpson Direct and lotteries.com, we filmed and photographed one of Liverpool’s favourite occasions – St Patrick’s Day. To celebrate the event, lotteries.com kept charity and fun at the heart of what they do by throwing a huge party with free lottery giveaways and prizes galore. We sent out several of our production units to capture the week long run up to the big day in conjunction with Radio City and the Liverpool Echo. Filming began bright and early on March 17th with Radio City 2’s live Breakfast Show at O’Neill’s Bar. The Irish breakfasts and pints of Guinness got the party started and a very unique boxing event between DJ’s Rossie and Simmo raised over £1,000 for the Cash For Kids charity, kindly donated by lotteries.com. Although the heavens opened during the mile-long St Patrick’s parade through the city centre, spirits never dampened and our crews enjoyed covering the event as much as the participants! And as evening fell, Liverpool (surely the English capital of Ireland) was lit up in green. We took to several locations across the city to film and photograph the end of a great…
