Firstly…please accept our apologies. It’s been some time since we sent our last newsletter. The reason for our tardiness is quite simple – we’ve been too damn busy! From big ships to statistics, liver surgery to coastal flights, our team has run the full gamut of creative marketing projects over the past few months.
In the summer, our skills were once again called upon by Cammell Laird to present the hull launch of RRS Sir David Attenborough to the world.
The polar research vessel slipped majestically in to the River Mersey and our production team live streamed the entire event from a multitude of camera views.
We worked closely with British Antarctic Survey during the event and some 2,000 guests watched on big screens as Sir David and Professor Dame Jane Francis pushed the magic button. Click here to watch the launch.
Live events and exhibitions have taken our team quite literally up hill and down dale.
A third conference for the Archives and Records Association (ARA) was this year staged in Glasgow. Twelve staff were on-site for the three-day gathering which involved AV, film, stills and event management. We journeyed to Cardiff for the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) and Newport for the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS).
Events for our new client Macmillan has involved visits to London, Leeds and Glasgow (once again) for a series of roadshows. It’s certainly been a whirlwind of work, but if there’s one thing we love at chez Mills, it’s variety!
As exhibition season takes hold of the Autumn, the Mills team has recently worked with another new client – the Association of Air Ambulances. This amazing organisation commissioned our designers to create their Emergency Services Show stand at the NEC.
Current client Openhouse was also in attendance, so it was double bubble for our build crew who worked long and hard to deliver two great stands.
And let’s not forget a quick jaunt to Hamburg, Germany for Cammell Laird who utilised our talents to exhibit yet again at the biennial SMM Show.
The film department at Mills Media Creative works in beautiful partnership with our live events offering. So, apart from shooting at ARA, RSS and IAPS, the crew have just shot a new production for Hitachi Medical Systems at the world renowned Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. Definitely not for those of a queasy nature, the team worked with senior consultants to capture the process of removing a liver tumour under ultrasound guidance.
We also filmed the return of The Giants who made their first venture to the Wirral. A crowd of thousands came to see the 33 ft Royal De Luxe street puppet stride along the waterfront to create an amazing celebration. Watch it here.
If you looked up to the sky over the past few months you will have no doubt seen Bob Baxter taking stills!
He has been flying high for Laing O’Rourke capturing their latest work at Manchester International Airport and its multi-million pound T2 re-development.
Bob also flew along the north-west shoreline for a unique coastal survey project. Starting at the Great Orme in Wales, he helicoptered his way up to Gretna Green in Scotland, taking in rivers, estuaries and tidal flows.
So, that’s us up to date for now. We promise not to leave it too long next time as we’ve got lots of projects underway that we can’t wait to reveal and share. A knight, a sporting legend… that’s enough, we’ve said too much already!
